Brian Colgan FCCA
Director
Brian is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Brian has 21 years of experience, providing audit and advisory services to a range of clients throughout the Highlands and Islands and has a special interest in audit related work. He has much experience reporting and presenting to Audit Committees and at Board level, and advising on Risk Assessment and Corporate Governance. Recently Brian has become more involved in the medical practices within the firm which interests him. Having previously been involved in the audit of the NHS he is well placed to advise clients in this area.
When Brian is not in the office he enjoys keeping fit and supporting Dundee United!
Mhairi Callander BAcc MMus CA
Director
Mhairi is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. She relocated to the Highlands three years ago, having trained and worked in Glasgow for many years.
Mhairi has a broad range of experience, both in audit and accountancy, working primarily with small and medium sized companies and has clients throughout the Highlands and Islands. She has been involved in many types of businesses from construction and engineering to nursing homes and football teams. In particular, Mhairi enjoys dealing with the many and varied taxation issues that face clients and the challenges that corporate finance work can present. When not working, Mhairi enjoys walking and plays clarinet with the Highland Chamber Orchestra.
Marina Grant CA
Business Services Manager
Marina Grant has been working in the accountancy profession for nearly 21 years and has been a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland for 16 years. She has much experience working with a variety of businesses including professional partnerships, sole traders and companies. Marina is also actively involved with our personal tax team.
Marina has developed a high level of specialist expertise within the medical sector. She deals with the accounting, taxation and superannuation compliance work on behalf of several medical practices ranging in size from two to nine partners. She also works with dental and law practices.
In her free time Marina enjoys keeping fit and is kept busy being treasurer at her local church.
Sarah Beattie
Outsourcing Manager
Sarah has been working in practice for the last 13 years and is studying towards the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification, a qualification ideally suited to her role at Callander Colgan.
Sarah manages our Outsourcing department and specialises in the preparation of management accounts, preparation and review of Vat returns, implementation of accounting systems including training, and maintaining the books and records of clients.
Sarah is our in house expert on SAGE accounting software, however, she has had increasing exposure to a number of accounting packages used by clients due to the many accounting packages now offered.
In her free time she is kept active by her 2 year old son, the restoration of her Victorian period house, furniture restoration and walking.
John Horne MA CA
Business Services Supervisor
John qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 and has worked in general practice since then, apart from 5 years when he worked as a manager in the catering industry.
He specialises in the preparation of accounts for small owner operated businesses, personal taxation and payroll.
Outside interests include Scouting (a Beaver leader at Kingsmills Scout Group), politics and he has a season ticket at Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club.
Scott Adie BA CA
Qualified Business Services Senior
Scott recently completed his training as a Chartered accountant with Callander Colgan and has stayed with the company as a qualified senior. Previously, Scott attended Robert Gordon University where he studied Accountancy and graduated with an honours degree.
Scott enjoyed his training with the company and gained a broad experience in many areas within the business. Scott is particularly involved in the audit work which the company carries out and has recently been enjoying the challenge of more complex taxation and corporate finance assignments.
Outside of work Scott is a keen sports fan and also enjoys socialising with friends and colleagues.
